Motorhome hire terms and conditions
These terms and conditions apply to all motorhome hires provided by ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd. By making a booking, paying the booking deposit, signing the hire agreement or taking possession of the motorhome, the hirer confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these terms and conditions.
Motorhome details
The motorhome supplied for hire is a Ford Roller Team Zefiro 675, with 6 berths, 6 belted travelling seats, manual transmission, and is diesel-powered. Its overall length is 6.99m (excluding the rear bike rack), overall width is 2.35m (excluding the awning), and overall height is 3.2m.
The hirer must not exceed the legal passenger capacity or manufacturer's weight limits. Important: The hirer must take particular care when driving under bridges, entering car parks, tunnels or other areas with height or width restrictions. The motorhome is approximately 3.2 metres high.
Driver requirements
The minimum age for all drivers is 25 years. All drivers must hold a valid full driving licence, have the required driving experience, meet the requirements of our motor insurance policy, be approved by ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd before driving, and complete the required driver referencing checks.
All drivers must provide the documentation required by our insurers, which may include: a photocard driving licence, online driving licence check, two acceptable proofs of address, passport (where required), and details of motor claims and convictions (where applicable). No person may drive the motorhome unless they have been authorised and named on the relevant hire documentation.
Booking and payment
A booking is secured by payment of a non-refundable booking deposit equivalent to one night's hire. All payments must be made by bank transfer to the ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd Monzo Business account. The remaining balance must be paid 28 days before the start of the hire.
Bookings are not considered fully confirmed until the required booking payment has been received and the necessary driver checks have been satisfactorily completed.
£500 Security/damage deposit
A £500 security/damage deposit must be paid by bank transfer before the start of the hire. The deposit must be made by a clear and traceable payment method. The £500 deposit will be returned within 48 hours of the motorhome being returned, subject to completion of the vehicle and contents inspection.
Deductions may be made for: damage, loss or breakage of equipment or contents, excessive cleaning, missing items, fuel, toilet cassette charges, pet-related damage or excessive cleaning, fines, tolls or penalties, or any other costs for which the hirer is responsible. Where a deduction is made, details of the charge will be provided to the hirer.
Fuel
The motorhome will be supplied with a full tank of diesel. The hirer must return the motorhome with a full tank of diesel. If the motorhome is returned without a full tank, the cost of refuelling will be deducted from the security deposit, together with any applicable administration/refuelling charge.
Toilet and cleaning
The toilet cassette must be completely emptied and cleaned before the motorhome is returned. A £50 charge will apply if the toilet cassette has not been emptied. All rubbish must be removed before return. The motorhome should be returned in a reasonably clean and tidy condition. Excessive cleaning may be charged against the security deposit.
Pets
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. A £30 pet charge per booking applies. The hirer is responsible for any damage or excessive cleaning caused by their pet. Any associated costs may be deducted from the £500 security deposit.
Smoking and vaping
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside the motorhome. A £100 charge will apply if smoking or vaping has taken place inside the motorhome. Additional costs resulting from damage or specialist cleaning may also be deducted from the security deposit.
Insurance
The motorhome is insured for self-drive hire, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions and requirements of the applicable insurance policy. All drivers must be approved before driving. The hirer must comply with all applicable insurance requirements. Any accident, damage, theft or attempted theft must be reported to ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd as soon as possible.
UK breakdown cover
UK breakdown assistance is included with the hire, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable breakdown policy. The hirer must contact the designated breakdown assistance provider if assistance is required. The breakdown provider's policy terms, conditions and exclusions apply.
European travel
European travel is available by prior arrangement. European breakdown cover is not included as standard. Any customer wishing to take the motorhome to Europe must arrange and pay for the required European breakdown cover before travelling. European breakdown cover can be discussed with ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd before booking.
The hirer is responsible for ensuring all required documentation is obtained before travelling, including a VE103 certificate where required. The hirer is also responsible for complying with all local laws and regulations.
Tolls, fines and charges
The hirer is responsible for all tolls, congestion charges, parking charges, road-user charges, low-emission-zone charges, speeding fines, parking fines, traffic offences, penalties and other charges incurred during the hire period. This applies in both the UK and abroad. If a charge is received by ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd as a result of the hirer's use of the vehicle, the hirer will be responsible for reimbursing the company. Reasonable administration costs associated with processing such charges may also be charged.
Care and use of the motorhome
The hirer must take reasonable care of the motorhome. The motorhome must not be: used for racing or speed trials, used for illegal purposes, overloaded, driven by an unauthorised driver, sublet or re-hired, used for commercial purposes without written permission, used in a way that may invalidate the insurance, or driven while the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The hirer must notify ILC Escapes of any warning lights, faults or mechanical problems as soon as reasonably possible.
Accidents and damage
In the event of an accident, the hirer must: ensure everyone is safe, contact emergency services where appropriate, exchange details with any other party involved, take photographs where safe to do so, contact ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd as soon as possible, and follow instructions provided by the insurer or breakdown provider.
The hirer must not admit liability or agree to settle a claim without appropriate authorisation.
Return of the motorhome
The motorhome must be returned at the agreed date, time and location. It must be returned: with a full tank of diesel, with the toilet cassette emptied, with rubbish removed, with all equipment and contents present, and in a reasonably clean and tidy condition. Late returns may result in additional charges where they affect another customer's booking.
Cancellation by the hirer
More than 28 days before hire: The booking deposit remains non-refundable. Any additional hire payments already made will be refunded. 14–28 days before hire: ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd may retain 50% of the total hire price. Less than 14 days before hire: Normally, no refund will be provided.
Customers are strongly advised to obtain suitable travel/cancellation insurance.
Cancellation by ILC Escapes
ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd reserves the right to cancel a booking where: the hirer fails the required insurance checks, required documentation has not been provided, payment has not been received, false or misleading information has been provided, the motorhome becomes unavailable due to circumstances outside our reasonable control, or the vehicle becomes unsafe or unroadworthy.
Where ILC Escapes cancels a confirmed booking for reasons within its control, unused hire payments will be refunded.
Personal belongings
ILC Escapes Motorhome Hire Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings left in the motorhome.
Agreement
By making a booking, paying any booking payment, signing the hire agreement or taking possession of the motorhome, the hirer confirms that they agree to these terms and conditions.
